Drawing a perfectly winged eyeliner requires patience and a bit of skill. If you are a beginner, it might take some time to master a winged eyeliner but once you do there is no looking back. A winged eyeliner not only accentuates your eyes but also gives a dramatic look. But, it all lies in the way you apply it. Of course, those who have tried winged eyeliners will admit that often they end up applying it perfectly on one eye and the line goes off on another eye. Due to this, they never get it right most of the time. Don’t worry, we understand it can take your patience away but we are here to help.
We will tell you how easily you can draw a winged eyeliner using eyeliners and kajal.
Here are some important tips and tricks to follow while creating your winged eyeliner look:
There are different methods to get an ideal winged liner but before we get into each method, take a look at some common prepping measures you need to take before proceeding further.
- Wash your face, including the eye area properly using a mild cleanser or face wash.
- Apply moisturizer on the entire face
- Apply primer on your eyelids
- Apply concealer on the eyelids and the undereye area and carefully blend it
- Set your concealer with a compact or loose powder
When you complete prepping and priming your eye area, choose the eyeliner or kajal with which you are planning to create this look. Don’t get overwhelmed with the several options available in the market. Take a liquid eyeliner with a fine applicator for starters or you even choose kajal like Lakme Eyeconic Kajal which is creamy in texture and smudge-free.
Note: If you are using kohl pencils or kajal for creating winged eyeliner then choose a smudge-free formula so that it doesn’t rub off and spoil the look.
Furthermore, here are some methods which you can use to get a perfectly winged eye:
Scotch Tape Method:
- Take a scotch tape or a cellophane tape and cut it for about 2 CM measurements each
- Stick the tape on the outer edge of your eyes in a slanting position (which reaches in the direction of the tip of your brows)
- Trace a line using an eyeliner or kohl pencil along the edge of the tape
- Complete the look by applying the eyeliner on your upper eyelids from outward to inward direction
- Let it dry for a moment and then remove the tap carefully without disturbing the line
Angle Brush Method:
Applying the winged eyeliner using an angle brush is much easier due to its shape.
- Take an angled brush, slightly wet it (if you need) and dip it into the eyeliner pot
- Place the angled brush on the corner of your eye to create an angle along with your temples
- Create an upper curve of your wing (in the direction of the tip of the eyebrows)
- Fill the space between the curved line and the initial angle line and also draw a neat line on the upper eyelids
Free Hand Method:
In this method, you can either take a liquid or gel eyeliner or a retractable kajal like Lakme Kajal to draw winged eyeliner. This method needs a bit of practice.
- Draw an extended line on the outer edge of your eye making a subtle angle
- Start again from where the line ends and draw a line that flicks inwards
- Extend this line towards the inner corner of the upper eyelids
- Fill the line neatly and also fill the gap between the angled line and the inner curve forming the wing
- For a more pronounced look, you can take a more pigmented eyeliner and trace along the already drawn winged line
- Your winged eyeliner is ready to go
Follow any of these methods to get your perfect winged eyeliner done right easily.
